28th Oct 2014Cloth of Gold vs Wheathampstead match results

We visited Wheathampstead on Sunday 12 October for a friendly shoot at their targets at 50 yds, 40yds and 30yds. We shot on a sheltered field with Shetland ponies watching us over the fence. Once the scores were added and averaged out, Wheathampstead was on 236.6 (they had 8 archers), and CoG 235.09 (we had 11 archers).

The return match was on 26 October, and we had a very good turnout of members in fact we 'lent' four of our newest archers to Wheathampstead to make the numbers more equal. The scores were based on a possible 600 points, so we shot four arrows at 15 targets, scoring 20 or 16 (or nothing). At the same time we had an Introduction to Field Archery Day and members of London Archers and Hillingdon Archery Club also came along separately.

The average score for Wheathampstead was 308, and for Cloth of Gold 389, so we keep the trophy. Lawrance also had small prizes for best overall lady (Ann) best overall gent (Jamie) and best junior (Willow from WAC). We hope to repeat this event next year!

Big thanks again to everyone who helped and brought cakes etc. Next week (2 November 2014) we are doing another Introduction to Field Archery for a club from South London, starting at 10am for 10.30. Come along if you can.
